Candidate for Congress (ME-2) Mike Soboleski Tours Bangor’s Largest Homeless Encampment and Meets with Residents (VIDEO)

Bangor, ME – On October 4th, Mike Soboleski joined The Maine Wire to tour Bangor’s largest homeless encampment. Click HERE, to watch the twelve-minute video of Mike meeting with residents of the encampment.

Camp Resident: “We [Maine] have the most addicted people and nowhere to go.”

Camp Resident: “This is way worse than any war you can imagine being in here…I have no way out of here….In a sixteen-month period, 40 people I’ve seen die.”

Camp Resident: “You don’t sleep well…It’s just a tent separating you from some bad people.”

“With winter approaching, these people need help, and they need help now,” said Mike Soboleski.  “Many living in these dire circumstances are looking for help – they are hoping to get clean and hoping to get back to work.  They are victims of a border policy that allows dangerous drugs to freely cross our border – and as they suffer, all Maine families are less safe.   Mexican cartels and domestic organized crime are preying on our rural communities and our children – politics aside, we need the Biden Administration and Congress to take action now,” Soboleski added.

Camp Resident: “You think about the Mexican border, where all this is coming across. Think about Bangor Maine, and the amount of drugs it must take…and then think about the whole country…every little town, and it’s all coming over that border.  How? It’s a bigger distribution than Walmart, and its that sophisticated…It’s madness.”
